The first step to becoming a volunteer involves filling out an application form.
If you wish to become a client care volunteer you must complete a training course. We offer this training twice each year. Participants will examine closely their own attitudes and feelings concerning things such as disease, illness, and death. This course includes communications training and information on the physical and emotional stresses experienced by clients and their families.
Following completion of the Palliative Care Course, participants will complete an interview, reference check, and submit a CPIC to the Hospice Lennox & Addington staff. After approval, you will be required to sign various volunteer agreement forms. Volunteers will then be matched with clients by the Service Coordinator.
If you wish to become a non-client care volunteer you will need to complete an interview, reference check, and submit a CPIC to the Hospice Lennox & Addington staff. After approval, you will be recruited by the staff as needed for fundraising and/or office work.
